The Provence villages are waiting for you!

Provence is one of the most beautiful French regions – close to both Italy and Spain, it is a region built of building of a certain style. The Mediterranean style is a mix of colors, shapes and is often turned to the sun and sea. Provence welcomes every year many people from all over the world, but what is there to see?

First stop: Banon

Banon is a village situated in the heart of Provence, at the top of a small mountain. From there, you will get to see the view of the countryside, the lavender fields or the olives fields, and even the mountains of the Luberon. Banon is a very traditional village: built around its church, it follows the Mediterranean style.

In Banon, you will be able to buy some of the town’s specialty: goat cheese, all the while enjoying one of the best views of the countryside.

Second stop: Èze

Very famous, Èze is an interesting little town. Built atop a rock overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, it is one of the most beautiful villages of Provence. With tiny streets are traditional houses, Èze offers a view of the sea and the cliffs of Cap Ferrat from almost everywhere!

It has a deep and fascinating history of influence from Italy, Spain, and even Greece, back in 600 before JC. Èze has also been home to Pablo Picasso and Frédéric Chopin, among others!

Third stop: Moutiers-Sainte-Marie

Though it is a bit of a mouthful to pronounce, Moutiers-Sainte-Marie is a must-see if you like the views of valleys and impressive architecture. The village was built on the edge of a cliff, with tiny streets and small shops. The view from the top of the village is one of the very best, within a little town full of character.

Moutiers-Sainte-Marie is also known for its ceramics: they are everywhere! In several workshops you will be able to watch the artists and craftsmen as they work – you can even buy some in most shops.

Fourth stop: Bormes-les-Mimosas

Situated on the French Riviera, Bormes-les-Mimosas is famous for its incredible views. The village is surrounded by a forest of pine trees, olives and lavender fields, and its houses are painted the colors of the sun and sea: yellow, pink and blue. Throughout the years, it has been named ‘France Most Beautiful Village’ which makes it a very popular destination, but one totally worth it too.

Bormes-les-Mimosas is a great place to visit all year long, though the summer time is always better to enjoy the amazing beaches!

Fifth and last stop: L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

Yet another name to struggle with, L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a must-see if you’ve never been to Venice (frankly even if you already went there). Made of impressive architecture, the village stands on the edge of a river, with little bridges and small shops scattered around the town. As it is surrounded by water, you can visit in the summer without getting too hot, and you will even be able to enjoy a swim or kayak!

L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is also known for its natural beauty: it has been home to many artists, and you will easily find several galleries opened!
